Dear Colleagues,
Soon, many of us will meet in Dublin to share our work and consider the conference theme, Crises, ‘Creative Destruction’ and the Global Power and Communication Orders. Crisis has been a reoccurring theme that has haunted the halls of IAMCR conferences during the last few years. Thus, it may not be surprising that the theme for our next gathering incorporates this concept, weaving it into Schumpeter’s oft-cited notion of “creative destruction.” Read more >

Pronto, muchos de nosotros nos reuniremos en Dublín para compartir nuestro trabajo y reflexionar en torno al tema de la conferencia: Crisis, "destrucción creativa" y el poder global y los órdenes de comunicación. Chers collègues,
Bientôt, nous serons nombreux à nous retrouver à Dublin pour partager notre travail et réfléchir sur la thématique Crise, ‘’Destruction Créatrice’’ et les Injonctions du Pouvoir Globalisé et de la Communication. La crise est un thème récurrent qui a hanté les salles de conférences de l’IAMCR au cours des dernières années. “Mr Higgins, a leftwing poet and human rights campaigner, was elected president in the wake of Ireland’s financial crisis in October 2011 with the biggest vote in the history of presidential elections. The local organising committee (LOC) in Dublin have been working to engage with current environmental concerns in planning the conference. We hope to make this conference as green and sustainable as possible, and have been working with the IAMCR Environmental Committee to share suggestions and best practices for the environment. More IAMCR Travel Awards for Dublin Conference
IAMCR has awarded an additional 5 travel grants to young scholars from lower-income countries. The grants were made possible by financial resources generated by the organisers of IAMCR's 2012 conference in Durban. Read more >

Le comité local d’organisation (LOC) à Dublin a pris en considération les préoccupations environnementales actuelles lors de la planification de la conférence. ALAIC and ECREA stimulate international Forum through roundtable “Communication, dialogue and worldwide perspectives” at IAMCR 2013
The taskforce intends to investigate and develop closer collaboration between both organizations, recognizing that regional diversity is a significant asset to our field, but at the same time drawing attention to the importance of avoiding counterproductive processes of intellectual isolationism or hierarchization through the organisation of creative dialogues and exchanges. In the pre-Internet age, membership of a professional association provided a unique structure for personal scholarly and intellectual dialogue with colleagues worldwide, usually at a major annual conference. Now, digital communication technologies are available at our fingertips for daily interaction and linkages. Read more >
The ECREA Book Series celebrates its 10 anniversary
In August 2003, the first book of what was then called the ECCR book series was published by Intellect. This edited volume was entitled The European Information Society: A Reality Check and edited by Jan Servaes, who had taken the initiative to launch the book series, and who is still a member of the series’ advisory board (together with Denis McQuail and Robert Picard). El grupo de trabajo se propone investigar y desarrollar una colaboración más estrecha entre ambas organizaciones, reconociendo que la diversidad regional es un activo importante para nuestro campo, pero al mismo tiempo llamar la atención sobre la importancia de evitar los procesos contraproducentes de aislacionismo intelectual o jerarquización mediante la organización de diálogos creativos y los intercambios. ¿Misma moneda: dos caras?
Curiosamente, los temas de las conferencias anuales de la AIECS y la AMIC para 2013 son similares en su intención y alcance. Sin embargo, mientras que la materia de la AIECS para la conferencia de Dublín, en junio, nos sacude con la desolación más absoluta, el tema de AMIC para su reunión de Yogyakarta, en julio, parece irradiar una sensación de optimismo y esperanza. La Serie de Libros ECREA celebra su décimo aniversario
En agosto de 2003, el primer libro de lo que entonces se llamaba la serie de libros ECCR fue publicado por Intellect. Avant l’ère d’Internet, l’appartenance à une association professionnelle ne fournissait qu'une unique structure pour le dialogue scientifique et intellectuel avec des collègues du monde entier, le plus souvent lors d’une importante conférence annuelle. La collection "ECREA book series" fête son 10éme anniversaire
En Août 2003, le premier livre de ce qu'on appelait alors collection ECCR a été publié par Intellect. Cet ouvrage était intitulé The European Information Society: A Reality Check et était dirigé par Jan Servaes. Ce dernier avait pris l’initiative de créer cette collection et il est toujours membre de son conseil consultatif (avec Denis McQuail et Robert Picard ). Continuez à lire >
