There are now two weeks left before the deadline to submit proposals for IAMCR 2019 – February 8 at 11:59 UTC. The overall theme is Communication, Technology, and Human Dignity: Disputed Rights, Contested Truths but the conference will deal with many more themes. See the general call for proposals with a description of the theme and also the specific calls for proposals of IAMCR's 32 sections and working groups to see what they propose.
The calls for proposals are one way of seeing what we'll be debating at IAMCR 2019. For an alternative way of seeing, look at the wordcloud we made of the top words in the titles of the abstracts we have already received. We'll update this wordcload as we get closer to the deadline. Twenty grants of up to US$1,500 will be made available to early-stage scholars, who are members of IAMCR in good standing, reside in low and middle income countries and have papers accepted for presentation at the conference in Madrid. The grants are to help offset the travel costs of members who would otherwise be unable to attend. Read more>
IAMCR will make several awards and grants available to members in 2019: The Prize in Memory of Herbert I. Schiller, the UCF/IAMCR Urban Communication Research Grant, & the New Directions for Climate Communication Research Fellowship. Deadline to apply: 7 April 2019. Read more >
IAMCR Madrid is working to find solutions for participants who travel with young children. The Local Organising Committee is considering various options. One alternative, for children above 3 years old, is the summer camps organized at UCM. Those summer camps can include activities related to natural sciences, mathematics or dramatic arts.
To confirm which options will be available for participants and the cost of those services, participants who plan to travel with children and young people, should confirm before April 7 2019:

Ahora quedan dos semanas antes de la fecha límite para presentar sus propuestas a IAMCR 2019 – 8 de febrero a las 11:59 UTC. La temática general es Comunicación, Tecnología y Dignidad Humana: Derechos Controvertidos y Verdades Contestadas pero la conferencia tratará de muchos otros temas. Puede consultar la convocatoria general de propuestas con una descripción de la temática y también las convocatorias específicas de propuestas de las 32 secciones y grupos de trabajo de IAMCR para ver lo que proponen.
Las convocatorias de propuestas son una manera de ver qué temas serán debatidos en IAMCR 2019. Veinte becas de hasta USD 1,500 se pondrán a disposición para académicos que se encuentren en etapas iniciales de su carrera, sean miembros de IAMCR, residan en países de bajos y medianos ingresos, y cuyas propuestas hayan sido aprobadas para ser presentadas en la conferencia de Madrid. IAMCR Madrid 2019 está trabajando para brindar soluciones a los participantes que viajan con niños pequeños. El Comité Organizador Local está evaluando distintas opciones. Una de las alternativas, para niños mayores de 3 años, son los campamentos de verano de la UCM. Estos campamentos de verano pueden incluir actividades de ciencias naturales, matemáticas o artes escénicas.
Para confirmar con qué opciones finalmente podrán contar los participantes y el coste de los servicios disponibles, los participantes que viajen con niños y jóvenes, deberán confirmar antes del 7 de abril de 2019:
